Wilsons Auctions awarded for a second consecutive year in recognition of its innovative new cryptocurrency service.
Wilsons Auctions, the UK and Ireland’s largest independent auction company, has been awarded for the second consecutive year at the Turnaround, Restructuring and Insolvency (TRI) Awards, named Best Technology Provider at a gala ceremony in London.
The prestigious national awards took place at Hilton London Bankside and championed the companies and individuals leading the charge for diversity across the TRI Arena.
The Best Technology Provider Award recognised Wilsons Auctions’ innovation over the past 12 months in successfully rolling out its new secure solution in realising crypto assets on behalf of government and law enforcement agencies worldwide.
The judges commented, “Wilson Auctions developed the world's first fully-insured storage and sale facility for crypto-currency assets. The judges felt this was a fantastic achievement. This facility will provide clients with the ability to secure and realise value for these assets. A pioneering move.”
Wilsons Auctions Group Operations Director, Peter Johnston said, “We are absolutely thrilled to be awarded Best Technology Provider at the 2019 TRI Awards. In a year which has seen Wilsons Auctions make history as the first private auction company in the world to securely store and sell cryptocurrency on behalf of its clients, this award is testament to the dedication carried out by our Asset Recovery Department in order to get us to this position.

As a reputable auction company, we are able to offer a secure solution in realising these difficult assets, overcoming the increasing problems of seized cryptocurrencies. We are very encouraged by the demand for our cryptocurrency auctions to date and look forward to seeing its progression in the near future,” he added.
