Wilsons Auctions named as one of NI's Top 100 Companies

The auction company ranked 88th in the 2022 report for Northern Ireland’s most profitable companies

Wilsons Auctions was recently listed in the Belfast Telegraph's 2022 publication for the top performing companies across Northern Ireland.

The report highlights a wide variety of sectors and the tremendous resilience of Northern Ireland's biggest and best companies who have been adaptive and innovative during such challenging times.

This is a first for the auction company to make an appearance on the exclusive business report.

Speaking of the achievement, Group Operations Director Peter Johnston commented, ‘There are approximately 110,000 companies in Northern Ireland, so we are naturally delighted to appear in the Top 100 listing. Although a large proportion of our organisation is established in other regions on these islands, we are proud of our Northern Irish roots. Many of the companies listed in the Top 100 are household names and it is an honour to feature alongside them. We are very proud of our excellent staff, across all our branches, for making this possible.’

The family run business has its head office in Belfast and is the largest independent auction house in the UK and Ireland. Operating from 19 locations, the auction group sold goods worth £337million in the year to March 2021 on behalf of its customers.

Those customers are drawn from a range of areas including private sellers, car dealers, major car manufacturers, lease companies, banks, liquidators, and government bodies including law enforcement agencies.

Holding over 3100 auctions each year, the company auctions every category of asset from cars and vans, plant and machinery to property and general goods. It also has the expertise to deal with more luxurious goods including planes, yachts, gold bars, supercars, designer goods, prestigious watches and more recently expanding its offering to cryptocurrency.

The auction company carries the expertise, standards, and facilities to manage the whole realisation process including collection, valuation, storage, re-marketing and going on to achieve the assets’ maximum value.

The group has grown in recent years through the development of new markets, modernisation of its auction centres, smart acquisitions, and a move to more online auctions.

Investment of £8.5m since 2017 has allowed Wilsons Auctions to make improvements to their existing auction centres and expand with new site acquisitions across the UK including Newport (South Wales), Newcastle (England) and most recently Oxford (England). An additional site in Queensferry (North Wales) is also a recent addition to the auction group.
