Winter Ball Set to raise funds for Friends Of The Cancer Centre

On Saturday 12th November, local charity Friends of the Cancer Centre will host a glittering Winter Ball in Titanic, Belfast to mark 37 years of supporting cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland.

To mark the charity’s milestone year, four hundred guests will join in the celebrations and enjoy a fabulous evening, whilst supporting the charity’s vital work which makes a real and meaningful difference to cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland.  Friends of the Cancer Centre hopes to raise over £75,000 at the Winter Ball, which could help the charity provide 3,000 hours of nursing care from its vital nurses. To help reach this target, guests will be treated to a night full of entertainment which will include live performances from Belfast Operatic Company and The Manouche Boys, as well as a raffle, silent auction and exclusive live auction. Thanks to support from Wilsons Auctions, the live auction will be streamed online and open to people at home. Eleven exclusive Lots are set to be auctioned live at 10pm on Saturday 12th November featuring an escape to a luxury Tuscan villa, a five-star cruise and a 9ct white gold diamond pendant necklace as well as an exclusive private dining experience with local chef, Suzie Lee. For the keen musician or collector, there is a harmonica signed by Sir Van Morrison and a custom made ‘Diamond Hanlon Stratocaster’ guitar made by the late, Ronnie Hanlon.

Looking ahead to the night, Colleen Shaw, Chief Executive of Friends of the Cancer Centre, said:

“The Winter Ball is set to be the highlight of the charity’s year, as it is an opportunity to bring together a host of wonderful supporters and raise vital funds which will go on to make a big difference to the lives of people here in Northern Ireland.  It’s also an opportunity for us to say thank you to so many local people and businesses for their support, especially over the last few years.

“The event has attracted generous sponsorship from charity partners, including platinum sponsor, Warmflow; gold sponsors ABL Group, John Mulholland Motors as well as support from Dr. Maria Moloney and Dr. Denis Moloney (solicitor and patron) and silver sponsors include Applegreen, ASM Chartered Accountants and Belfast Harbour. As well as this incredible support, local businesses have donated prizes for a live auction, silent auction and raffle on the night.

Brian Beattie, Head of Marketing & GB Sales for Warmflow, who are platinum sponsors of the event, said:

“As a family business, Warmflow has been supporting Friends of the Cancer Centre for many years. We are proud to be platinum sponsors for the Winter Ball as we know that all of the money raised  will make a very big difference to the lives of patients and their families right across Northern Ireland.”

For 37 years, Friends of the Cancer Centre has been dedicated to making a real and meaningful difference to cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland.  The charity works to enhance the quality of patient care and support through its life-changing and life-saving work which includes funding additional nurses, supporting local research and providing practical support, such as financial grants, which can help patients through a difficult time. The charity relies entirely on the generosity of the local community and all money donated stays in Northern Ireland, directly benefitting patients and their families.

With a target of £75,000, the live auction will be the highlight of the night’s fundraising activities, where guests will have the opportunity to bid on a host of items including luxury holidays, 5 star breaks, music memorabilia and much more.

Ahead of the auction, Auctioneer and Northern Ireland General Manager at Wilsons Auctions, John Ardill commented:
