Wilsons Auctions steps up to support Easter Youth Academy

This Easter, Ballymun United Football Club hosted their second Train2Play Youth Academy. Delighted to be able to support the local North Dublin community project, Wilsons Auctions played a vital sponsorship role for the 3-day event.

Ballymun United FC ran the first Academy of 2023 in February. Due to a surge in demand, dates for a second camp were confirmed, taking place during the Easter holidays, with over 65 attendees aged 5 to 17.

With extra kit and equipment required to facilitate the extra children in attendance during 3 – 5 April, funding from Wilsons Auctions allowed Ballymun United FC to purchase the additional material and run the event with larger volumes.

Based on the Northside of Dublin, Ballymun United FC is an amateur football club that has been running since 1969.

Noel Downey from the club explained, “This is a local community event designed for children aged 5 to 17 years old and it is a great way to provide young people with opportunities to learn and develop, not only their football, but their physical and social skills for life in general.”

“All the coaches present at our camps are volunteers and we are so grateful for the time and effort they give to the kids. Not only do the coaches teach drills such as passing and receiving, shooting, skills and tricks, scoring goals, dribbling plus ball control, but they also highlight to the children about the importance of nutrition for performance and recovery.”

Jason Delaney, Branch Manager/Auctioneer at Wilsons Auctions commented, “It’s always fantastic to see community projects come together and be a success, and for Wilsons Auctions to be a part of it all is fantastic for everyone involved. When I visited the Easter Camp, I could see how much the kids were enjoying the brilliant facilitates and the enthusiastic coaches. I hope this demand will only increase further for Ballymun United and develop some great football youth teams.”
