Wilsons Auctions awarded West Midlands Police contract

We are delighted to have been awarded the contract to manage the disposal of police recovered assets for West Midlands Police.

Wilsons Auctions, the UK and Ireland's largest independent auction company, has been awarded a contract with West Midlands Police, the second largest police force in England, to provide the disposal and valuation services for crime recovered, found and other property.

The one-year contract, with an opportunity to extend for a further 12 months, will see the auction company manage the full asset realisation process of assets ranging from electrical goods, jewellery, artwork, memorabilia. This will cover the collection and storage of items to the valuation, remarketing and sale of items through physical and online auction.

The news comes only weeks after it was announced Wilsons Auctions secured a two-year contract with the largest police force in the UK, the Metropolitan Police, managing the sale of crime related property in addition to surplus assets.

Peter Johnston, Group Operations Director at Wilsons Auctions said, "We are delighted to be working with West Midlands Police managing the disposal of their recovered assets. Securing a contract with the second largest police force in the UK is testament to the great work carried out by our ever-expanding Asset Recovery Department.

"Wilsons Auctions is proud to manage the asset recovery for over 40 law enforcement agencies across the UK, Ireland and further afield which continues to grow. In recent years we have been responsible for realising in excess of £100 million worth of assets which has been returned to the public purse," he added.

As a result of Wilsons Auctions securing significant government and law enforcement contracts across the UK and Ireland, expanding its client base as well as its services into cryptocurrency assets, the Asset Recovery Department has seen further expansion in recent months. Managing the team, Aidan Larkin has been promoted to Head of Asset Recovery while the team has welcomed a dedicated Asset Recovery Property Executive and additional Asset Recovery Executives across the branches.

A family owned business, Wilsons Auctions was formed in 1936 in Northern Ireland and has grown to become the largest independent auction company in the British Isles with sites in the Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales with over 400 members of staff and an annual hammer total in excess of £300 million.
